The Tenuta Spada Estate is nestled amongst the dramatic,
volcanic hills of Northern Campania and has been owned by the Spada
family since 1973.
It's 25 hectares of vineyards, planted on volcanic basalt soils
had long enjoyed local recognition for its wines but a chance
encounter with Italy's most celebrated consultant winemaker,
Riccardo Cotarella, was a defining moment in the estate's
history.
Under his supervision the radical overhaul in the vineyard and
winery has yielded delicious, fruit filled mineral whites and
elegant, structured reds made from indigenous Campania varietals
which have been repeatedly awarded Tre Bicchieri in the Italian
wine bible Gambero Rosso.
