LATIUM MORINI
Veneto, Italy |
<< BACK |
www.latiummorini.it
Latium was created by seven brothers and cousins of the Morini family who, like so many in Italy, worked with the local Cantina Sociale. They realised they shared a passion for quality, a passion for their land and, rather conveniently, vineyards in Valpolicella and Soave! They also had space to build a winery on the land so very recently left the coop and started to work on their own.
We are very excited to have discovered Latium Morini at a very early stage. What they may lack in track record, they more than make up for in the quality they are producing. Their innovative outlook, informed winemaking and viticulture, value for money, not to mention their exciting and contemporary presentation, all makes for a compelling package.
The wines are all one would hope for from the Veneto. The Soave are fresh and vibrant, the cru Campo Calle having extra weight and complexity. The reds are full and structured, each step of the ladder from the straight Valpolicella to the Amarone clearly defined in terms of weight and complexity. Above all these are wines that clearly express their origin.

Soave DOC
Deliciously fresh and vibrant, aromatic with zingy fruit and lovely balance. |
Soave Campo le Calle DOC
Harvested late, in the first week of October, this is more weighty, complex and structured than the regular Soave. Intense and full this has aromas and flavours of stone fruit and a long, mineral finish. |
Valpolicella DOC
Fantastic varietal aromas on the nose of ripe fruit, cherries and a touch of spice. Lifted and fresh. A great wine to accompany a wide variety of dishes. |
Valpolicella Superiore Campo Prognai DOC
Some of the grapes used to make this are air-dried in baskets (as if for Amarone) for around 20 days which adds superb layers of aroma, flavour and structure. Long, rich and powerful with ripe tannin and an intense finish. |
Amarone Della Valpolicella Campo Leon DOC
Healthy fruit at peak ripeness is hand harvested and air dried for 100 to 120 days in small baskets. This wine has fantastic ripe, healthy fruit aromas, a rich and profound palate and superb, fleshy tannin and length. Balancing minerality makes this superbly drinkable |

Passito Bianco Sette Dame
Made in honour of the seven Morini wives this is golden yellow in colour, has aromas of ripe exotic fruit and is wonderfully rich, sweet and long on the palate. |
