Fabio Sireci is passionate about Nero d’Avola and on his vineyards in central Sicily does everything he can to make his wine a true expression of the grape.

Fabio is aware of trends in taste – but doesn’t follow them, fearing that while he could make his wines “easier” that would also make them less characterful and give them less personality. It would be wrong to think that his wines are difficult though because while they are complex and intense they have amazing detail, subtlety and elegance.

Feudo Montoni is one of oldest estates in Sicily, tracing its history back to the 15th century and beyond. The vineyards lie between 400 and 700 metres above sea level and all face east, away from the torrid heat of the Sicilian summer. Fabio only uses vines from his own vineyards, taking cuttings from older plants to ensure continuity of his unique clonal material. He restricts yields, uses wild yeasts and doesn’t fine or filter his wines. A wonderfully natural approach to protect the authenticity and typicity of Sicilian wine.

Alongside Nero D’Avola Fabio produces other indigenous varieties including some delicious and remarkable whites.

		GRILLO “G” Fresh and aromatic on the nose with hints of citrus and blossom. Balanced and elegant it is refreshing and versatile.
		CATARRATTO Perfumed and distinctive this has aromas of jasmine and lime while the palate is tangy and spicy.
		NERO D’AVOLA Rich and complex on the nose with aromas of savoury herbs and dark berry fruit. The palate is savoury and spicy with velvet texture and a seductive, elegant, understated style.
