Alliance Wine welcomes two new members to its team.

|
|
Garech Byrne
Having studied French &
Italian at university Garech, somewhat perversely, spent the first 5 years of
his career in the wine trade marketing and selling South African
wine.
A recent addition to the
Agency team, Garech looks after an ever- growing band of independent retailers
and wholesalers around the country. When not driving up down the nation’s
motorways or explaining the pronunciation of his obscure name, he can often be
found fruitlessly trying to remove cat hair from his clothes or indulging his
passions for cooking, eating and drinking- though not necessarily in that order.
Garech lives in London with
Sarah and two very hairy cats.

Caterer and Hotelkeeper
24 April 2008
Pineapple, peach and citrus flavours characterise the light and refreshing
Chardonnay/Viognier (13.5% abv) from the new Zuccardi Serie A range from Familia
Zuccardi.
The collection is made by winemaker Ruben Ruffo and combines grapes developed
over the past 30 years across fresh vineyard sites. The complete range comprises
a white blend, two single varietal reds and a rosé.
The deep purple Malbec (14.5% abv) is made from fruit from La Consulta, Vista
Flores and Maipu vineyards in Mendoza, and has black cherry and chocolate notes
with a peppery, velvety finish.
The violet Bonarda (13% abv) is made with hand-picked grapes from Zuccardi's
own Santa Rosa vineyards, Mendoza, and has blueberry and blackberry aromas with
a soft flavour, while the Malbec rosé (13% abv) is made with fruit from the
Zuccardi Maipu vineyard in Mendoza. It is light cherry in colour, with
strawberry aromas and flavours, and has a delicate finish.

"It's my delight to personally
confirm that Phi Lusatia Park Pinot Noir 2006 will be announced as the Big Red
Wine Book's Pinot Noir of the Year in my upcoming Big Red Wine Book.
The Big Red Pinot Noir of the Year

therefore in order."

Wine Enthusiast, April 2008
by Roger Voss
Quinta de Ventozelo Touriga Nacional 2004
A dark, brooding wine, packed with fruits that are dominated by dry
tannins. This is still young, but the dense blackberry fruit
flavours are all here. Its weight and power need time to tame,
but for now, the acidity and fruit are impressive. April 2008 Editor's Choice - 90
Quinta de Venotzelo 2004
Already showing signs of maturity, this is a full, ripe wine, with
licorice and black fruit flavours, hinting also at coffee. The wood
gives firm but dusty tannins, leaving an openess to the wine, along
with an element of spiciness. The aftertaste is full and dry,
with good acidity. April 2008 Best Buy - 89
Quinta de Ventozelo Tinto Roriz 2004
A firm, ripe wine, with great red fruit flavours, dark tannins and an
edge of coffee. There is some toast element here in this young
wine. 88

The Times
19th April 2008
By Jane McQuitty
2007 Centellito Verdejo, Rueda, Spain
Terrific
new-wave Spanish white from Rueda made from the zesty verdejo grape and
oozing with lively lime and lemon peel-spiked fruit. Its crisp,
vibrant style would have been unthinkable 20 years ago.
