BODEGAS LAUS
Somontano, Spain
<< BACK |
Bodegas Laus is a new winery in the emerging region of Somontano, in the foothill of the Pyrenees.
With huge investment and ambition, Laus have entered the market with a view to becoming the premium winery in the region. A state of the art winery, minimalist design and labels that have already garnered design awards alll makes for a typically modern Spanish project.
However, the high altitude vineyards and use of varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Gewurtztraminer give it a thoroughly international profile.

Whilst, we’re sure that the slowly maturing vines are yet to yield their finest fruit, the early releases from Laus have been extremely well received and their introduction provides welcome variety to the Spanish scene.

Flor de Chardonnay, Bodegas Laus
Whilst Chardonnay maybe not what people think of when they think of Spanish whites, the new wave region of Somontano, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, has made something of a specialism of international varieties. Grown in an elevated site to retain fruit freshness, this is an unoaked chardonnay with ripe tropical fruit, hints of banana and citrus and a creamy finish. |

Flor de Merlot Rosé, Bodgeas Laus
An enticing dark salmon pink in colour and ripe, creamy strawberry fruit on the nose. Crisp and tangy on the palate with ripe, macerated fruit and a juicy, savoury finish. A great food rose - but just as great on its own! |
Flor de Gewurztraminer, Bodegas Laus
The elevated vineyard sites at Laus allow for long cool ripening which is important for retaining balance in Gewurtztraminer. This example has delicate lychee and rose petal on the nose followed by a crisp yet rounded palate of zesty tropical fruit. |

Tinto Roble, Bodegas Laus
Bodegas Laus is one of the most exciting new producers in the Somontano region and here is a good example of why. Spending 3 months in barrel, this blend of Merlot, Cabernet and Tempranillo has all the fruit of a juicy young wine but softened by the sweet, creamy oak integration. |
Tinto Crianza, Bodegas Laus
A delicious blend of Merlot, Cabernet & Tempranillo that sees 12 months in fine oak to give it a wonderfully supple, spicy character. Rich, yet not overwhlming on the palate, the ripe succulent fruit follows through to a long, velvety finish |
Tinto Reserva, Bodegas Laus
Made, unusually for Spain, from Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a mature red from one of Spain's most exciting new regions, Somontano. Medium weight with juicy, cassis and tobacco character followed by hints of plumand spice with a savoury edge. Simply delicious with roasted vegetables or lamb. |
