| Giles left university with the ability to cook well, taste wine and a history degree! Happily accepting the lure of being surrounded by wine, Giles joined Majestic Wine Warehouses and worked in and around London for three years before moving back to Edinburgh to start work for Alliance in 1994. |
In that time, Giles has built significant sales territories that, in the main, have now been passed onto colleagues. Instrumental in the opening up of the Edinburgh, Midlands and London areas, Giles is now responsible for a small number of very patient customers in Scotland and an ever burgeoning number of national account businesses.
Giles' main focus now is on the overall direction of the portfolio, direct sourcing from a large number of countries, handling supplier liaison, pr and brand development and marketing.Having completed the WSET exams, Giles passed the notoriously difficult Master of Wine exams in 2001 and became one of the select band of people in the world to carry the intitials M.W. He is also involved in the Master of Wine Educational programme.
When not working, Giles tries vainly to keep fit, plays the odd (very odd) bit of tennis, cooks, travels and does a spot of fishing.
