PHI Wines, Yarra Valley
Occasionally there are wines that impress not for their brash packaging or huge, alcohol laden fruit bomb character but for their restraint, their elegance and their integrity. Wines where what they don’t say is almost more important than what they do. Enter, centre stage, PHI Wines.
The brainchild of two men, Stephen Shelmerdine of Shelmerdine Estate and Steve Webber of De Bortoli, PHI is a realisation of a desire to make subtle, elegant, complex wines that reflect the soils of the outstanding Lusatia Park vineyard in the Yarra. Made at De Bortoli’s Dixon Creek facility in the Yarra, they clearly demonstrate the passion emanating from one of the best winemaking teams in Australia at present.
Just 50 dozen of each of the Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot will reach these shores and with key media supporters already, they are sure to attract a cult following…. |
