Many Congratulations to Heritage Portfolio!

As wine suppliers to Heritage Portfolio we are proud to announce that the Edinburgh based catering company has just won one of the most prestigious catering awards, "Best Events Caterer UK 2005", ahead of Sodexho Prestige and Compass Catering (Letherby & Christopher). Heritage Portfolio provide hospitality to a broad range of clients in and around Edinburgh. Despite their busy schedule, we managed to get hold of Ian D'Annunzio- Green and Alan Duff, two of the three directors, and asked them a few questions about their success:

You must be so proud of your recent achievement, considering that this is your 10th award in 3 years - what is the secret to winning these awards?

We must be good at filling in application and entry forms! Seriously though, we would definitely say meticulous attention to detail and listening to client's ideas contribute to our success. When we plan an event we do it with imagination and creativity as perfection is our ultimate aim - and we know what is achievable and are prepared to steer away from a contract if it does not fit within the stable.

If you were to choose one event, which would be the most challenging one that you've done?

It would have to be a dinner we hosted for just sixty six people. The dinner itself was not the challenging side, but it was the timing of it. We had only ONE week to put it together and to an extremely high specification for everything. We had to purchase special crystal glasses, bone china crockery, and commission a specially made tablecloth (66ft long!), 1000 white rose heads, Beluga caviar, lobsters... The specialist client was ecstatic in the end. We regularly cater for very senior members of the Royal Family within Holyrood Palace which is also challenging.

What would be the wines you would chose to drink on your yacht?

Ian - My everyday one at the moment would be Sherwood Sauvignon Blanc, a special one would be Bella's Garden Shiraz from Two Hands, and the bubbly would be Pommery Cuvee Louise.

Alan - I really like your new Spanish Care Chardonnay, the special red would have to be Luis Canas Amaren Rioja, and my bubbly would be Laurent Perrier Rose.
