Virgin Earth

"If you ever saw the land that these vines were planted on you wouldn’t believe that anything could grow there” says Kobus du Plessis of the vineyard he and Nico Vermeulen planted in the inhospitable Karoo region of South Africa.

The first vintage of Virgin Earth “High 5ive” is proof however that vines have an incredible ability to cope with stress. Five noble varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, are grown at high altitude to produce a wine that is deliciously supple and scented with splashes of ripe fruit and spicy oak.

Available from early 2005, this wine is an exciting addition to our South African portfolio.
