Los Espinos, Chile

Never let it be said that we rest on our laurels – or even on a bramble bush for that matter! Los Espinos is Spanish for “the thorns” and the thorns in this instance come from the bramble bushes that were cleared to plant the vines.

Los Espinos is a brand new pair of wines from the ever reliable La Ronciere winery that we have had so much success with over the last few years. This year, more than ever, we felt that we had to produce something which not only looked good but delivered great flavour, style and value for money. We are now pretty satisfied that Los Espinos offers all three by the basket load.

The Chardonnay focuses in on expressive, citrus flavours with hints of grapefruit along with melon and touches of pineapple. Judicious use of oak ( only around 10%) lends a little more weight but doesn’t detract from the bright, fruit led style of the wine. The Merlot is everything one can expect from Chilean Merlot. Juicy, fleshy, sappy and lip smacking. Filled with bramble and cassis fruit, supple tannins and gentle confiture finish.

These wines are available now….
