WINES TO WATCH FOR…..
MARQUES DEL SEGURA, JUMILLA, SPAIN

Early next year, February to be exact, sees the launch of our new range of Spanish wines, sourced from the Jumilla region in the South East of Spain. We've been looking for quite some time for a pair of well made, fruit driven yet characterful wines from Spain. Fortunately we think we've now found them. Marques del Segura will be launched with a Tempranillo Monastrell blend and a straight Macabeo white. The white is clean, modern and citrussy with good crisp acidity and balance. The red is packed with fruit, earth yet rounded tannins and a juicy, silky finish. Both offer great value for money and are well presented.

Jumilla itself offers exciting opportunities. Formerly the source of massive, dark reds used by many other regions ( and other country's regions!) as a colouring wine, Jumilla, like many Spanish D.Os, has reinvented itself as a producer of characterful, modern wines using indigenous grape varieties. Future plans for the Marques del Segura include a Crianza and a Reserva as well as the winery's flagship wine - Divus.
