NEW RANGES FROM STELLA BELLA

Few of you (I hope) will have been able to miss the rather tongue in cheek Suckfizzle adverts earlier on in the year but some of you may have missed the sister range - Stella Bella.

Stella Bella wines are sourced from various vineyard sites in the Margaret River and they provide stylish drinking as well as an opportunity to try some "different" blends. The new vintages are just about to arrive and already there is huge interest for a range that a leading Australian journalist described as one of the most exciting launches this year. The new range features the first release of the Semillon Sauvignon, the Shiraz and the Sangiovese Cabernet as well as follow on vintages of the Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Janice McDonald, the winemaker (ex Devil's Lair head winemaker) received a great response on her recent visit to the U.K and was able to enlighten us as to where the name comes from. Janice is a trained brewer as well as a winemaker and in a previous job set up the brewery that was the first to . brew Stella Artois under license in Australia. When it came to naming her Irish Wolfhound, she just had to be Stella and Stella was indeed Bella and the rest is history!

Do not underestimate these wines though - these are no mere gimmick but highly tuned examples of classic Margaret River winemaking, albeit with a lightly wacky edge.
