Alliance Heads Down Under

'Alliance Wine, the Scottish wine distributor, has set up a subsidiary company in Australia. The company, based in Beith, Scotland, has formed Alliance Wine Australia to produce 'economic brands' for its UK operation, and has also hired Peter Leske, former head winemaker at Nepenthe, as director of the Adelaide venture.

Giles Cooke MW, Alliance 's wine development director, and also director of Alliance Wine Australia said: 'I have long been frustrated that much of the work in terms of brand development and then distribution was already being done by Alliance, and yet we paid a middleman in Australia for their input.'
